MEET SARVEN

It all started when Sarven, a professional recording and touring musician since 2007, agreed to perform for the Makers Mart Festival at Street Tree Revival in exchange for a beautiful slab of wood that he would eventually turn into his recording desk. That one desk (pictured below) grew into an obsession with woodworking and after some encouragement from his community, he began Inner Cambium Woodworks as a side hustle. After a few larger jobs like outfitting local barber shop Antonetti’s Hair for Men with workstations, and display tables for local plant store Plantiitas, Sarven decided to take his hobby seriously and go all in.

The word, cambium, refers to the growth layer of a tree. It is the layer that turns into bark and adds to its width. The name Inner Cambium Woodworks stands for the continued personal growth that Sarven has committed to as a lifelong learner and dedicated craftsman. This respect for his work shines through each of his pieces and motivates his future as an entrepreneur.

Why ethically sourced wood matters

Most pieces of furniture that are made from wood today contribute to deforestation. Unfortunately, trees that are cut down within the city, typically end up in a landfill where they are burned. This creates toxic gas that contributes to pollution.

This is why at Inner Cambium, we believe in doing better. We work alongside reclaimed wood companies to repurpose what would be tossed as an effort to create sustainable pieces.
